The present tense

The present indicative tense is used to describe actions or states of being that are happening in the present. Here are the general rules for conjugating regular verbs in the present indicative:

Conjugating Regular Verbs

For -ER verbs, remove the -ER ending and add the appropriate ending based on the subject pronoun (e.g. parler becomes je parle).

For -IR verbs, remove the -IR ending and add the appropriate ending based on the subject pronoun (e.g. finir becomes je finis).

For -RE verbs, remove the -RE ending and add the appropriate ending based on the subject pronoun (e.g. vendre becomes je vends).

The first group (-ER)
